In Golden Age, Dongyi Wu reinterprets traditional ornaments through the language of fashion, exploring the deep connections between ancient crafts, contemporary art, and modern fashion.
Wu draws inspiration from ceremonial traditions of early South American cultures and the African and Pacific craftsmanship. In many ancient societies, these objects were far more than mere decoration—they served as ritualistic vessels, transforming wearers into luminous beings and honoring the shared spiritual essence believed to flow between humans, animals, and the natural world.
Through the medium of fashion jewelry, Wu invites audiences into an imagined radiant past—a golden age when humanity, nature, and the divine were inseparably woven together. By bridging the ancient and the contemporary, the body and jewelry, she encourages artists and viewers to reconsider both the definition and possibilities of contemporary jewelry.
